KAIST is proud to host Pianist Ben Kim as part of its Spring Festival for 2008. Hailed by critics and audiences alike for his charismatic performances, 23-year-old American-born Ben Kim is being recognizedas one of the most promising pianists of his generation. His budding career has taken him worldwide and has recently become the focus of international attention after winning a rarely awarded First Prize in the 55th ARD Munich International Music Competition in September 2006. According to his unoffcial Japanese fansite, Ben Kim's performances have received praise for their warmth and maturity, earning the attention of his legendary teacher and mentor, Leon Fleisher, who proclaimed Ben's "enormous potential for a first-class career." His 2007 itinerary included a second concert tour through Japan and Korea in a series of 12 concerts, which were immediately reengaged after his success in Asia the previous season.
